Skin Nutrition - Bone Broth

 Beautiful Bone Broth

The ultimate recipe for balancing hormones. It’s a little fid- dly but you can make in batches and freeze. It’s handy to add to casseroles or use as a stock for other recipes but can be eaten on its own as a meal or snack.

Makes 3 litres. You can use any bones you like to make this broth. It is super deli- cious and excellent to balance hormones. You can also cook up a big batch of this and freeze it to use in soups and stews as stock.
1 large chicken or 2 kg of bones
(beef, ribs, neck bones – whatever you can get your hands on).

INGREDIENTS

3 Litres Of Cold Water
Cup Of Vinegar
3 Carrots Chopped
3 Celery Sticks Chopped Thyme And Parsley (Tied Together To Easily Remove Once Cooked) Pepper And Salt

METHOD
Place bones, water and vinegar in a large pot and allow to sit.

If you have some bones with a lot of meat you might like to roast them before adding them to the pot. This helps bring out flavour.
If you have a whole chicken, just add it.
Add carrot and celery to the pot – ensure there is enough water to cover.

Place on stove. The longer this simmers, the better to bring out the nutrients – some will cook this up to 72 hours! We suggest you simmer for as long as possible (5ish hours). In the last 30 minutes of cooking, add herbs and seasoning.
